...Elevated Fire Danger Today...

The combination of brisk and gusty south winds and a dry air mass
will lead to elevated fire weather conditions this afternoon
across extreme southeastern Kansas and much of western Missouri.

Sustained south winds of 10 to 20 mph are expected, with gusts of
20 to 30 mph. Meanwhile, afternoon humidity values will fall into
the 25 to 35 percent range.

These conditions will favor the quick growth and spread of fires,
especially in prairie grass regions.
