...HEAT INDICES ABOVE 100 DEGREES FOR WEST CENTRAL MISSOURI AND
SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS ON FRIDAY AND ACROSS THE ENTIRE REGION
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY...

.HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE ON FRIDAY ACROSS WEST
CENTRAL MISSOURI AND PORTIONS OF SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS...WHERE HEAT
INDICES WILL TOP OUT BETWEEN 100 AND 105 DEGREES FOR THE THIRD OR
EVEN FOURTH DAY IN A ROW. THE CUMULATIVE EFFECT OF MULTIPLE DAYS
OF HIGH HEAT INDEX VALUES WILL LEAD TO AN INCREASED THREAT FOR
HEAT RELATED ILLNESS OVER THE ADVISORY AREA.

THESE HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS WILL SPREAD ACROSS ALL OF SOUTHWEST
MISSOURI AND EXTREME SOUTHEAST KANSAS FOR SATURDAY AND SUNDAY.

SUNDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A HEAT
ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM SATURDAY TO 8 PM CDT
SUNDAY.

* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...ALL OF SOUTHWEST MISSOURI AND
EXTREME SOUTHEAST KANSAS FOR SATURDAY AND SUNDAY.

* TEMPERATURE...TEMPERATURES IN THE LOW TO MID 90S...COMBINED WITH
HIGH HUMIDITY...WILL PRODUCE HEAT INDEX VALUES BETWEEN 100 AND
105 DEGREES ON SATURDAY AND BETWEEN 102 AND 109 DEGREES ON
SUNDAY. THE WARMEST READINGS WILL OCCUR DURING THE MID TO LATE
AFTERNOON...THOUGH EXCESSIVE HEAT WILL LIKELY LINGER INTO THE
EARLY EVENING HOURS.

* IMPACTS...MULTIPLE DAYS OF HEAT INDEX VALUES BETWEEN 100 AND 105
WILL RESULT IN AN INCREASED RISK FOR HEAT RELATED ILLNESS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT A PERIOD OF HOT TEMPERATURES IS
EXPECTED. THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY
WILL COMBINE TO CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE
POSSIBLE.

TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN
POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR
EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT
STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN
POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.

TO REDUCE RISK DURING OUTDOOR WORK...THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND
HEALTH ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS SCHEDULING FREQUENT REST BREAKS
IN SHADED OR AIR CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS. ANYONE OVERCOME BY
HEAT SHOULD BE MOVED TO A COOL AND SHADED LOCATION. HEAT STROKE
