...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST MONDAY...
...WIND CHILL ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON
CST MONDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A WIND
CHILL ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO
NOON CST MONDAY. A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR SNOW...SLEET AND
FREEZING RAIN REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST MONDAY.

* SHORT TERM TRENDS...SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN WILL CONTINUE INTO
THE MORNING HOURS TODAY. THUNDERSTORMS HAVE ALSO BEEN OBSERVED
THIS MORNING...WITH LIGHTNING STRIKES AND INTENSE PRECIPITATION
RATES OCCURRING. THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION INDICATES THAT
ROADS HAVE BECOME COVERED WITH SLEET AND ICE IN MANY AREAS AND
ARE BECOMING TREACHEROUS.

WINTRY PRECIPITATION WILL BECOME MORE SCATTERED IN NATURE LATER
THIS MORNING INTO THIS AFTERNOON...BEFORE INCREASING AGAIN LATE
THIS AFTERNOON INTO THIS EVENING.

* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...WINTRY PRECIPITATION WILL CONTINUE
THROUGH TONIGHT FOR AREAS NORTH OF A LINE FROM BRANSON TO
EMINENCE...INCLUDING THE GREATER U.S. 60 AND I-44 CORRIDORS.
BITTERLY COLD WIND CHILLS CAN BE EXPECTED FROM THIS EVENING
THROUGH MID DAY MONDAY.

* SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS...UP TO AN INCH OF SLEET IS
EXPECTED THIS MORNING...WITH ADDITIONAL LIGHT SLEET
ACCUMULATIONS EXPECTED DURING THE DAY TODAY. LATER THIS EVENING
INTO TONIGHT...SNOW IS EXPECTED ACROSS THE REGION. MANY
LOCATIONS CAN EXPECT 4 TO 6 INCHES OF SNOW TO FALL...WITH
LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS UP TO 8 INCHES. SNOWFALL RATES MAY BE
HEAVY AT TIMES TONIGHT.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS...A GLAZE TO TENTH OF AN INCH OF FREEZING RAIN
IS EXPECTED BEFORE PRECIPITATION CHANGES OVER TO SLEET AND SNOW.

* WINDS AND VISIBILITY...NORTHERLY WIND GUSTS UP TO 30 MPH WILL
RESULT IN CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW LATER THIS
EVENING AND TONIGHT. VISIBILITIES WILL BE REDUCED TO LESS THAN
A HALF MILE AT TIMES.

* WIND CHILL VALUES...WIND CHILL VALUES WILL REMAIN AROUND ZERO
TODAY ACROSS THE AREA. TONIGHT AND EARLY MONDAY...WIND CHILLS WILL
FALL TO BETWEEN 10 AND 20 DEGREES BELOW ZERO.

* IMPACTS...TRAVEL ACROSS THE REGION WILL BECOME DIFFICULT AND
DANGEROUS. BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW MAY LIMIT THE VISIBILITY
TO NEAR ZERO AT TIMES. VERY COLD TEMPERATURES WILL RESULT IN A
RISK FOR FROSTBITE AND HYPOTHERMIA FOR ANYONE WITHOUT PROPER
SHELTER.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW...
SLEET...AND ICE ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO
POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.
CONSIDER TAKING A WINTER STORM KIT ALONG WITH YOU. THIS KIT SHOULD
INCLUDE SUCH ITEMS AS TIRE CHAINS...BOOSTER CABLES...A
FLASHLIGHT...SHOVEL...BLANKETS...EXTRA CLOTHING AND ANYTHING ELSE
THAT WOULD HELP YOU SURVIVE IN CASE YOU BECOME STRANDED.

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS
WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN
FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.
IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS...MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND
GLOVES.
