...POTENTIAL FOR WINTRY PRECIPITATION INCREASING LATE THIS WEEK
AND THIS WEEKEND...

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF THE MISSOURI
OZARKS AND EXTREME SOUTHEAST KANSAS.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED...

LIMITED EXCESSIVE COLD RISK.

DISCUSSION...

WIND CHILLS FROM FIVE BELOW TO FIVE ABOVE ZERO WILL CONTINUE
EARLY THIS MORNING. WIND CHILLS IN THE SINGLE DIGITS WILL
AGAIN BE POSSIBLE TONIGHT.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY.

A QUICK MOVING STORM SYSTEM WILL BRING A WINTRY MIX OF
PRECIPITATION TO THE OUTLOOK AREA ON FRIDAY. UP TO AN INCH
OF SNOW ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED AT THIS TIME. A FEW POCKETS
OF SLEET AND LIGHT FREEZING RAIN WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE...WITH
THE BEST POTENTIAL FOR ANY FREEZING RAIN ALONG AND WEST OF
THE HIGHWAY 65 CORRIDOR ON FRIDAY MORNING. ANY ICE
ACCUMULATIONS WOULD BE VERY MINOR...WITH TEMPERATURES THEN
WARMING ABOVE FREEZING BY THE AFTERNOON ACROSS WESTERN
MISSOURI AND SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS.

THIS STORM SYSTEM WILL ALSO BRING BRISK AND GUSTY
SOUTHEASTERLY WINDS TO MUCH OF EXTREME SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS
AND WESTERN MISSOURI FROM LATE THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY
MORNING. WIND GUSTS OVER 30 MPH ARE EXPECTED.

PATCHY FOG AND DRIZZLE WILL THEN BE POSSIBLE FRIDAY NIGHT
ACROSS THE OUTLOOK AREA. WITH TEMPERATURES EXPECTED TO FALL
BELOW FREEZING...THERE IS A LIMITED POTENTIAL FOR VERY MINOR
ACCUMULATIONS OF ICE ON EXPOSED SURFACES IF THE FOG AND
DRIZZLE MATERIALIZE.

A STRONGER AND MORE PROLONGED STORM SYSTEM WILL THEN IMPACT
A LARGE PORTION OF THE CENTRAL UNITED STATES FROM LATER
SATURDAY THROUGH SUNDAY. THERE IS INCREASING CONFIDENCE THAT
THIS STORM SYSTEM WILL BRING A SWATH OF FREEZING RAIN AND ICE
ACCUMULATION TO PART OF THE REGION...WHICH MAY INCLUDE
PORTIONS OF THE OUTLOOK AREA. IN ADDITION TO THE THREAT FOR
FREEZING RAIN...SNOW AND SLEET ARE ALSO EXPECTED ON THE
NORTHERN PERIPHERY OF THIS STORM SYSTEM. EMBEDDED
THUNDERSTORMS WILL EVEN BE POSSIBLE ACROSS SOUTHERN
MISSOURI.

WHILE IT IS TOO EARLY TO DETERMINE EXACT PRECIPITATION
TYPES AND AMOUNTS...AREA INTERESTS ARE URGED TO KEEP UP WITH
THE FORECAST AS THIS STORM SYSTEM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BRING
WIDESPREAD IMPACTS TO THE CENTRAL UNITED STATES.

MEANWHILE...WIND CHILLS IN THE SINGLE DIGITS WILL REMAIN
POSSIBLE THROUGH THE UPCOMING WEEKEND. INDICATIONS ARE THAT
AN EVEN COLDER AIR MASS WILL THEN SETTLE INTO THE REGION
EARLY NEXT WEEK. OVERNIGHT LOW TEMPERATURES MAY DIP INTO THE
SINGLE DIGITS WITH WIND CHILLS FALLING BELOW ZERO.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTER ACTIVATION WILL NOT BE NEEDED THROUGH TONIGHT.
