A WINTER STORM SYSTEM WILL IMPACT THE REGION SATURDAY EVENING
INTO SUNDAY. SNOW WILL BE FOLLOWED BY A BLAST OF FRIGID AIR
SUNDAY INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK.

A WINTER STORM SYSTEM REMAINS LIKELY TO DEVELOP OVER THE MIDWEST
LATE SATURDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT. SNOW IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP OVER
THE REGION SATURDAY EVENING AND MOVE NORTHEASTWARD INTO THE OHIO
RIVER VALLEY REGION ON SUNDAY. A SWATH OF ACCUMULATING SNOW IS
LIKELY ACROSS THE ENTIRE OUTLOOK AREA. FOR LOCATIONS WEST OF
HIGHWAY 65...BETWEEN 2-5 INCHES OF ACCUMULATING SNOW IS EXPECTED.
FOR LOCATIONS EAST OF HIGHWAY 65 CORRIDOR A WINTER STORM WATCH IS
NOW IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH 3 PM SUNDAY. FROM 5
TO 7 INCHES OF SNOW FALL IS EXPECTED WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS
POSSIBLE. PLEASE STAY TUNED TO THE LATEST FORECASTS AS UPDATES
WILL FURTHER REFINE SNOW ACCUMULATION EXPECTATIONS.

CONFIDENCE REMAINS VERY HIGH THAT A BITTERLY COLD AIRMASS WILL MOVE
INTO THE REGION SUNDAY THROUGH TUESDAY. STRONG ARCTIC HIGH
PRESSURE WILL MOVE INTO THE MIDWEST AND DELIVER THE COLDEST
AIRMASS OF THE SEASON. LOW TEMPERATURES SUNDAY NIGHT WILL RANGE
FROM NEAR 10 DEGREES BELOW ZERO IN CENTRAL MISSOURI TO AROUND ZERO
DEGREES IN AREAS NEAR THE MISSOURI ARKANSAS STATE LINE. HIGH
TEMPERATURES ON MONDAY WILL STRUGGLE TO RISE INTO THE SINGLE
DIGITS ABOVE ZERO. LOWS MONDAY NIGHT WILL RANGE FROM AROUND 5
DEGREES BELOW ZERO ACROSS CENTRAL MISSOURI TO AROUND 5 DEGREES
ABOVE ZERO ACROSS FAR SOUTHWESTERN MISSOURI. IN ADDITION...A
NORTHERLY WIND WILL PRODUCE WIND CHILL VALUES BETWEEN -5 AND -25
DEGREES AT TIMES FROM SUNDAY THROUGH EARLY TUESDAY. IF SNOW COVER
DEVELOPS AS EXPECTED...THERE IS A RISK TEMPERATURES MAY BE COLDER
THAN FORECAST.
