BITTER COLD TONIGHT AND MONDAY...

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF THE MISSOURI
OZARKS AND EXTREME SOUTHEAST KANSAS.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED...

SIGNIFICANT EXCESSIVE COLD RISK.
LIMITED NON THUNDERSTORM WIND RISK.
SIGNIFICANT SNOW RISK.

DISCUSSION...

A WINTER STORM IS OCCURRING ACROSS THE REGION THIS MORNING AND
WILL CONTINUE TO IMPACT THE REGION TODAY. THE SNOW WILL END FROM
WEST TO EAST LATE THIS MORNING THROUGH THE AFTERNOON HOURS.

A SWATH OF ACCUMULATING SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO OCCUR ACROSS EXTREME
SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS AND THE MISSOURI OZARKS WITH THE HEAVIEST
SNOW FALLING FROM EARLY THIS MORNING THROUGH MIDDAY. SEE THE
LATEST WINTER STORM WARNING AND ADVISORIES FOR THE LATEST
INFORMATION ON ACCUMULATIONS.

GUSTY NORTHERLY WINDS WILL ALSO OCCUR TODAY WITH GUSTS UP TO 30
MPH POSSIBLE AT TIMES. THESE BRISK AND GUSTY WINDS WILL PRODUCE
BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW WHICH WILL REDUCE VISIBILITIES
AND CREATE NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS AT TIMES.

BITTERLY COLD ARCTIC AIR WILL CONTINUE TO OVERSPREAD THE REGION
BEHIND THIS STORM SYSTEM TODAY AND TONIGHT. OVERNIGHT LOWS WILL
DROP TO NEAR ZERO TO TEN BELOW ZERO TONIGHT INTO EARLY MONDAY
MORNING. DANGEROUSLY COLD WIND CHILLS OF 15 TO 30 DEGREES BELOW
ZERO WILL ALSO OCCUR AT TIMES LATER TODAY INTO MONDAY MORNING.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY.

THE BITTERLY COLD ARCTIC AIR WILL REMAIN OVER THE AREA EARLY IN
THE WEEK. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL RISE ONLY INTO THE SINGLE
DIGITS MONDAY...WHILE OVERNIGHT LOWS WILL DROP TO NEAR ZERO TO
NEAR TEN BELOW ZERO AGAIN ON MONDAY NIGHT. DANGEROUSLY COLD WIND
CHILLS OF 10 TO 30 DEGREES BELOW ZERO WILL CONTINUE TO OCCUR AT
TIMES FROM MONDAY MORNING INTO TUESDAY MORNING.

MORE LIGHT WINTRY PRECIPITATION WILL THEN BE POSSIBLE AROUND THE
MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK.
