...WINTRY PRECIPITATION CONTINUES OVER THE REGION...

.PERIODS OF FREEZING RAIN WILL CONTINUE THIS AFTERNOON. THE
FREEZING LINE HAS SLOWLY INCHED NORTHWARD TODAY TO AROUND A
JOPLIN TO OSAGE BEACH LINE...BUT WILL LIKELY BEGIN TO MOVE SLOWLY
BACK TO THE SOUTHEAST THROUGH THE EARLY EVENING. THE REMAINING
PRECIPITATION THIS EVENING COULD ACCUMULATE MORE ICE IN AREAS
WHERE THE TEMPERATURES REMAINS OR FALLS BELOW FREEZING...WITH THE
MORE SIGNIFICANT ICE ACCUMULATIONS EXPECTED OVER SOUTHEAST KANSAS
INTO WEST CENTRAL MISSOURI.

THE NEXT ROUND OF PRECIPITATION WILL OCCUR LATER THIS EVENING
INTO SUNDAY MORNING AS AN UPPER LEVEL LOW TRACKS ACROSS THE
REGION WITH RAIN AND FREEZING RAIN CHANGING OVER TO A MIX OF
SLEET...FREEZING DRIZZLE AND SNOW. WHILE THE HEAVIEST SNOW WILL BE
NORTH OF OUR AREA...MINOR ACCUMULATIONS OF UP TO AN INCH OR TWO
WILL BE POSSIBLE OVER SOUTHEAST KANSAS INTO WEST CENTRAL AND
CENTRAL MISSOURI.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY FOR FREEZING RAIN...SLEET AND LIGHT SNOW...WHICH
IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST SUNDAY.

* SHORT TERM TRENDS...TEMPERATURES THIS AFTERNOON HAVE INCREASED
TO FREEZING AND SLIGHTLY ABOVE ALLOWING FOR MOST OF THE
PRECIPITATION TO FALL AS RAIN. TEMPERATURES WILL BEGIN TO DROP
BACK BELOW FREEZING THROUGH THE EARLY EVENING WITH THE REMAINING
PRECIPITATION EXPECTED TO TRANSITION BACK TO FREEZING RAIN. AS
THE COLDER AIR ALOFT BEGINS TO MOVE IN LATE TONIGHT...A
TRANSITION TO SOME LIGHT SLEET OR SNOW WILL BE POSSIBLE.

* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...THIS EVENING AND TONIGHT ALONG AND
JUST SOUTH OF THE INTERSTATE 44 CORRIDOR.

* SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS...MINOR ACCUMULATIONS OF AROUND A
TRACE TO TWO TENTHS OF AN INCH OF SLEET AND SNOW WILL BE
POSSIBLE LATE TONIGHT.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS...ADDITIONAL ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF A TRACE TO
FEW HUNDREDTHS WILL BE POSSIBLE TONIGHT.

* IMPACTS...SMALL AMOUNTS OF ICE ACCUMULATIONS WILL OCCUR...MAINLY
ON ELEVATED SURFACES...BRIDGES...OVERPASSES AND UNTREATED
ROADWAYS.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF FREEZING
