...WINTRY PRECIPITATION CONTINUES OVER THE REGION...

.PERIODS OF FREEZING RAIN WILL CONTINUE THIS AFTERNOON. THE
FREEZING LINE HAS SLOWLY INCHED NORTHWARD TODAY TO AROUND A
JOPLIN TO OSAGE BEACH LINE...BUT WILL LIKELY NOT PUSH MUCH FURTHER
NORTH TODAY. ANY PRECIPITATION OCCURRING NORTH OF THIS LINE WILL
EXPERIENCE ADDITIONAL FREEZING RAIN THIS AFTERNOON. ANOTHER BATCH
OF FREEZING RAIN WILL BE MOVING NORTHWARD OUT OF EASTERN OKLAHOMA
INTO WESTERN MISSOURI AND EASTERN KANSAS THIS AFTERNOON. AN
ADDITIONAL TENTH TO FIFTEEN HUNDREDTHS OF ICE WILL BE POSSIBLE
THROUGH THE EARLY EVENING.

THE NEXT ROUND OF PRECIPITATION WILL OCCUR LATER THIS EVENING INTO
SUNDAY MORNING AS AN UPPER LEVEL LOW TRACKS ACROSS THE REGION
WITH RAIN AND FREEZING RAIN CHANGING OVER TO SNOW. WHILE THE
HEAVIEST SNOW WILL BE NORTH OF OUR AREA...MINOR ACCUMULATIONS OF
UP TO AN INCH OR TWO WILL BE POSSIBLE OVER SOUTHEAST KANSAS INTO
WEST CENTRAL AND CENTRAL MISSOURI.

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR FREEZING RAIN AND SNOW
REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST SUNDAY.

* SHORT TERM TRENDS...THE FREEZING LINE EXTENDS FROM NEAR JOPLIN
TO OSAGE BEACH EARLY THIS AFTERNOON AND WILL LIKELY REMAIN
FAIRLY STATIONARY THE REMAINDER OF THE AFTERNOON. ANOTHER BAND
OF FREEZING RAIN WILL BE PUSHING INTO WESTERN MISSOURI AND
EXTREME SOUTHEAST KANSAS FROM EASTERN OKLAHOMA THIS AFTERNOON
WITH ADDITIONAL ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF A TENTH TO 0.15 OF AN INCH
POSSIBLE.

* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...OCCASIONAL LIGHT FREEZING RAIN THIS
AFTERNOON...CHANGING TO LIGHT SNOW LATER TONIGHT AND SUNDAY MORNING.

* SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS...A DUSTING OF LESS THAN ONE INCH
OF SNOW CAN BE EXPECTED ALONG THE I-44 CORRIDOR. ONE TO TWO
INCHES CAN BE EXPECTED FURTHER NORTH ACROSS CENTRAL MISSOURI AND
SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS...ADDITIONAL ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF A TENTH TO
FIFTEEN HUNDREDTHS WILL BE POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY
EVENING BRINGING STORM TOTALS FROM A QUARTER TO HALF INCH IN
MANY LOCATIONS.

* IMPACTS...ICE WILL CONTINUE TO CAUSE TRAVEL PROBLEMS TODAY...
MAINLY ON BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES AND UNTREATED ROADWAYS. LIGHT SNOW ON
TOP OF ICE WILL LIKELY WORSEN TRAVEL CONDITIONS TONIGHT INTO
EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. ICE BUILD UP ON TREES AND POWER LINES WILL
ALSO CONTINUE TO LEAD TO SPORADIC POWER OUTAGES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF ICE AND SNOW ARE
EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR
IMPOSSIBLE AT TIMES. CONSIDER TAKING A WINTER STORM KIT ALONG WITH YOU.
THIS KIT SHOULD INCLUDE SUCH ITEMS AS TIRE CHAINS...BOOSTER
CABLES...A FLASHLIGHT...SHOVEL...BLANKETS...EXTRA CLOTHING AND
ANYTHING ELSE THAT WOULD HELP YOU SURVIVE IN CASE YOU BECOME
STRANDED.
