...WINTRY PRECIPITATION EXPECTED FROM TONIGHT INTO THIS WEEKEND...

.A STRONG STORM SYSTEM CURRENTLY PUSHING ACROSS THE SOUTHWESTERN
U.S. AND NORTHERN MEXICO WILL CONTINUE TO SPREAD PRECIPITATION
ACROSS THE REGION. A FRONT WILL REMAIN NEARLY STATIONARY ACROSS
SOUTHEAST MISSOURI AND NORTHERN ARKANSAS WITH TEMPERATURES
REMAINING NEAR TO BELOW FREEZING OVER WESTERN MISSOURI AND EXTREME
SOUTHEAST KANSAS.

THE FIRST ROUND OF RAIN AND FREEZING RAIN WAS MOVING INTO THE
REGION THIS EVENING. PERIODS OF FREEZING RAIN WILL BE POSSIBLE
TONIGHT INTO SATURDAY MORNING ALONG AND NORTHWEST OF A GALENA TO
ROLLA LINE... WITH THE HEAVIEST AMOUNTS NORTH OF AN ANDERSON TO
SPRINGFIELD LINE.

TEMPERATURES SHOULD WARM SLIGHTLY ABOVE FREEZING SATURDAY
AFTERNOON...WITH FREEZING RAIN CHANGING TO RAIN IN MOST PLACES
SATURDAY AFTERNOON. IF TEMPERATURES DO NOT WARM AS MUCH AS
EXPECTED...MORE ICE COULD BE POSSIBLE.

THE NEXT ROUND OF PRECIPITATION WILL OCCUR SATURDAY EVENING INTO
SUNDAY MORNING AS AN UPPER LEVEL LOW TRACKS ACROSS THE REGION
WITH RAIN CHANGING OVER TO SNOW. THE HEAVIEST SNOW WITH THIS
SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO JUST CLIP AREAS ALONG AND NORTH OF A
PITTSBURG KANSAS TO OSAGE BEACH MISSOURI LINE.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A WINTER
STORM WARNING FOR FREEZING RAIN TONIGHT AND SNOW SATURDAY NIGHT
AND EARLY SUNDAY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 6
AM CST SUNDAY. THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...TONIGHT AND SATURDAY MORNING FOR
FREEZING RAIN AND SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY FOR SNOW.

* SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS...UP TO AN INCH.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS...AROUND ONE QUARTER OF AN INCH.

* IMPACTS...ICE AND SNOW WILL LIKELY CAUSE SIGNIFICANT TRAVEL PROBLEMS
BEGINNING LATE TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING AND THEN AGAIN
SATURDAY NIGHT INTO EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. ICE COULD ALSO BUILD
UP ON TREES AND POWER LINES WHICH COULD LEAD TO SOME POWER
OUTAGES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW AND ICE ARE
EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR
IMPOSSIBLE. CONSIDER TAKING A WINTER STORM KIT ALONG WITH YOU.
THIS KIT SHOULD INCLUDE SUCH ITEMS AS TIRE CHAINS...BOOSTER
CABLES...A FLASHLIGHT...SHOVEL...BLANKETS...EXTRA CLOTHING AND
ANYTHING ELSE THAT WOULD HELP YOU SURVIVE IN CASE YOU BECOME
