OZARKS AND EXTREME SOUTHEAST KANSAS.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED...

LIMITED FLOODING RISK.
LIMITED LIGHTNING RISK.
ELEVATED ICE ACCUMULATION RISK.

DISCUSSION...

PATCHY LIGHT FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL BE POSSIBLE THIS MORNING AND
AFTERNOON NORTH OF A PITTSBURG KANSAS TO WARSAW MISSOURI LINE. A
GLAZE OF ICE ON ELEVATED SURFACES WILL BE POSSIBLE.

LATE TONIGHT INTO EARLY SATURDAY MORNING...HEAVIER PRECIPITATION
WILL OVERSPREAD THE REGION FROM THE SOUTH. SOUTH OF
I-44...HEAVY RAIN AND OCCASIONAL THUNDERSTORMS WILL LEAD TO A
RISK OF FLOODING.

NORTH OF I-44...TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO FALL BELOW FREEZING
TONIGHT...RESULTING IN PRECIPITATION FALLING AS FREEZING RAIN
ONCE IT BEGINS. STORM TOTAL ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF UP TO A QUARTER
INCH CAN BE EXPECTED NORTH OF I-44.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY.

HEAVY RAIN AND THE THREAT FOR FLOODING WILL CONTINUE ON SATURDAY
ACROSS SOUTHERN AND SOUTH CENTRAL MISSOURI.

FREEZING RAIN WILL CONTINUE SATURDAY MORNING NORTH OF I-44.
DURING THE DAY ON SATURDAY...THE FREEZING LINE WILL LIFT
NORTH...CAUSING FREEZING RAIN TO CHANGE OVER TO RAIN FOR MANY
AREAS BY SATURDAY AFTERNOON.

ON SATURDAY EVENING...PRECIPITATION WILL BEGIN TO CHANGE OVER TO
SNOW...PARTICULARLY ALONG AND NORTH OF I-44. A TRACE TO TWO
INCHES OF SNOW CAN BE EXPECTED ALONG THE I-44 CORRIDOR...WITH
HIGHER AMOUNTS OF TWO TO FIVE INCHES ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS
AND THE U.S. 54 CORRIDOR IN MISSOURI. SNOW SHOULD END BY MID
MORNING SUNDAY.

BEHIND THIS STORM SYSTEM...A MUCH COLDER AIR MASS WILL FILTER
INTO THE OUTLOOK AREA. WIND CHILLS IN THE SINGLE DIGITS TO
LOWER TEENS ARE EXPECTED EARLY NEXT WEEK.
