..UPDATE TO AVIATION...

DISCUSSION...

A CANADIAN AIRMASS HAS SPREAD OVER EXTREME SOUTHEAST KANSAS AND THE
MISSOURI OZARKS. IN RESPONSE...TEMPERATURES WERE SEVERAL DEGREES
COOLER...WHILE HUMIDITY LEVELS BECAME LESS. AS A MATTER OF
FACT...AFTERNOON READINGS RANGED FROM THE UPPER 70S IN CENTRAL
MISSOURI...TO THE UPPER 80S NEAR WEST PLAINS. SATELLITE IMAGERY
SUGGESTED NOT A CLOUD IN SIGHT OVER THE AREA.

FOR TONIGHT...THE COMBINATION OF A DRY AIRMASS...CLEAR SKIES...AND
LIGHT WINDS WILL BE CONDUCIVE TO MAX RADIATIONAL COOLING. LOOK FOR
READINGS TO TANK WELL INTO THE 50S IN ALL LOCATIONS. HECK...THE
POSSIBILITY OF AN UPPER 40 DEGREE READING CAN NOT BE RULED
OUT...PARTICULARLY WITHIN SHELTERED VALLEYS NESTED WITHIN THE RUGGED
OZARK MOUNTAIN TERRAIN.

A SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE AXIS WILL GRADUALLY SHIFT ACROSS SOUTHERN
MISSOURI THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT. ONE MORE AFTERNOON OF LOW TO MID
80 DEGREE TEMPERATURES...AND THEN A WARMING TREND WILL BEGIN.
AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES WARMING INTO THE LOWER 90S WILL BE COMMON BY
THIS WEEKEND. IT WILL BE A MORE COMFORTABLE 90 DEGREES THIS
WEEKEND...AS MOISTURE AND HUMIDITY WILL BE SLOW TO SURGE BACK FROM
THE GULF. SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE NEAR THE GULF COAST WILL KEEP
MOISTURE AT BAY THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT.

BY SUNDAY...THE SUMMERTIME RIDGE WILL BECOME REFOCUSED OVER THE
EASTERN UNITED STATES. THIS WILL PROVIDE MORE OF A DEEP SOUTHERLY
RETURN OF FLOW DIRECTLY FROM THE GULF...THAT WILL FINALLY ALLOW FOR
MOISTURE ADVECTION. DESPITE THE INCREASE IN MOISTURE...THERE
REMAINS NO SIGN OF ANY FORCING MECHANISMS THAT WOULD CREATE LIFT FOR
PRECIPITATION OVER THE NEXT SEVEN TO TEN DAYS.

CRAMER

&&

AVIATION...

VFR FLIGHT CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE OVER THE AREA THROUGH THE NEXT
24 HOURS. AN AREA OF SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE WILL REMAIN TO THE WEST
PRODUCING LIGHT NORTHERLY FLOW OVER THE AREA. THE AIR MASS THAT IS
MOVING IN FROM THE NORTH IS QUITE DRY...SO CLOUD COVER IS NOT
EXPECTED.
