DISCUSSION...
/ISSUED 103 PM CDT SUN AUG 22 2010/

A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE THAT EXTENDS FROM THE WESTERN GREAT LAKES
TO OKLAHOMA WILL SLOWLY SHIFT EAST TONIGHT INTO MON. WITH
TEMPERATURES EXPECTED TO FALL INTO THE UPPER 60S AND RELATIVELY
HIGH DAYTIME DEW POINTS...COULD SEE SOME AREAS OF FOG ONCE
AGAIN...ESPECIALLY NEAR LAKES AND RIVER/CREEK VLYS.

A SHORTWAVE NOW JUST INLAND ALONG THE WEST COAST WILL SHIFT EAST
THROUGH THE PLAINS TO ONTARIO AND THE WESTERN GREAT LAKES BY TUE
EVENING. A TRAILING FRONT IS EXPECTED TO MOVE THROUGH THE CWFA TUE
NIGHT. WITH SPARSE MOISTURE AND BETTER CONVERGENCE TO THE NORTH
AND WEST-SOUTH...NOT ADDING ANY POPS TO THE FORECAST.

THE SHORTWAVE WILL SUPPRESS THE RIDGE TO THE SOUTHWEST FOR A BRIEF
PERIOD WED-THU WITH A VERY DRY N-NE SFC FLOW OVER THE REGION AND COOLER
TEMPERATURES. THE UPPER RIDGE WILL SHIFT BACK TO THE EAST LATE IN
THE WEEK AND EAST OF THE MS VLY BY NEXT WEEKEND. SIGNIFICANT
MOISTURE RETURN WILL BE SLOW EVEN WITH A MORE S-LY FLOW WITH A
PERISISTENT RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE ALONG THE GULF COAST. DSA

AVIATION...

EXPECT VFR CONDITIONS TO PREVAIL AT THE SOUTHWESTERN MISSOURI
AIRPORTS THROUGHOUT THE FORECAST PERIOD. PILOTS MAY NEED TO
MONITOR FOR A BRIEF PERIOD OF MVFR FOG DURING THE EARLY MORNING
HOURS AT BRANSON.

A SEASONABLY STRONG HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM CENTERED OVER THE WESTERN
GREAT LAKES IS RIDGING SOUTHWESTWARD OVER MISSOURI...EASTERN
KANSAS AND NORTHERN ARKANSAS. THIS HIGH IS FORECAST TO REMAIN
NEARLY STATIONARY OVER THE FORECAST PERIOD AND DOMINATE AREA
WEATHER.
