DISCUSSION...

THE FORECAST FOR THE COMING WEEK LOOKS RATHER QUIET OVERALL. AN
UPPER LEVEL RIDGE AND SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE WILL COMBINE TO BRING
SUNNY SKIES TO THE OZARKS THROUGH THE WEEK.

FOR THIS MORNING...OBSERVATIONS FROM LOCATIONS GENERALLY ALONG AND
NORTH OF THE PLATEAU ARE SHOWING VISIBILITIES DROPPING AS LOW AS A
QUARTER MILE. DEW POINT DEPRESSIONS ACROSS THE AREA ARE 3 DEGREES
OR LESS. WITH A RIDGE OVERHEAD AND LIGHT WINDS FROM SURFACE HIGH
PRESSURE...COULD SEE AN INCREASING COVERAGE AND DENSITY OF FOG
ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE AREA. HAVE FOG MENTIONED IN THE FORECAST
AT THIS TIME BUT WILL NEED TO MONITOR FOR ANY NEED TO MAKE A
STRONGER MENTION OF IT.

TO START THE WEEK...AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE WILL CONTINUE TO BUILD
OVER THE PLAINS AND INTO THE GREAT LAKES REGION. SURFACE HIGH
PRESSURE WILL KEEP WINDS OUT OF THE NORTHEAST AND HELP TO KEEP DEW
POINTS DOWN. WHILE TEMPERATURE WILL CLIMB INTO THE 90S...A DRIER
AIR MASS WILL LIMIT HEAT INDEX VALUES SIGNIFICANTLY.

THE RIDGE WILL REMAIN IN PLACE INTO TUESDAY MORNING UNTIL A STORM
SYSTEM MOVES ACROSS CENTRAL CANADA AND ACTS TO FLATTEN OUT THE
RIDGE. THE TRAILING END OF THIS SYSTEM WILL MOVE A WEAK COLD
FRONT INTO THE CENTRAL PLAINS. THIS FRONT WILL WANE IN STRENGTH
BEFORE REACHING THE OZARKS AND EXPECT A DRY FRONTAL PASSAGE.
HOWEVER, IT WILL BRING A COOLER AND DRIER AIR MASS TO THE PLAINS
AND THE OZARKS. MID LEVEL TEMPERATURES WILL COOL SIGNIFICANTLY BY
WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY WHICH WILL KEEP AFTERNOON HIGH IN THE 80S
WITH OVERNIGHT LOWS POTENTIALLY DIPPING INTO THE UPPER 50S ACROSS
CENTRAL MISSOURI THURSDAY MORNING.

THIS PATTERN OF UPPER RIDGING...MODIFIED BY COOLER AND DRIER
SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE WILL CONTINUE INTO NEXT WEEKEND. OVERALL
EXPECT A GENERAL COOLING TREND THROUGH THE WEEK WITH THE POTENTIAL
OF COOLER THAN NORMAL TEMPERATURE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR FOR THE
END OF THE WEEK.

IN SHORT...A QUIET AND ENJOYABLE WEEK IS IN STORE FOR THE REGION.

AVIATION...

EXPECT VFR CONDITIONS TO PREVAIL AT THE SOUTHWESTERN MISSOURI
AIRPORTS THROUGHOUT THE FORECAST PERIOD. PILOTS MAY NEED TO
MONITOR FOR A BRIEF PERIOD OF MVFR FOG DURING THE EARLY MORNING
HOURS AT BRANSON.

A SEASONABLY STRONG HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM CENTERED OVER THE WESTERN
GREAT LAKES IS RIDGING SOUTHWESTWARD OVER MISSOURI...EASTERN
KANSAS AND NORTHERN ARKANSAS. THIS HIGH IS FORECAST TO REMAIN
NEARLY STATIONARY OVER THE FORECAST PERIOD AND DOMINATE AREA
WEATHER.
