DISCUSSION...
/ISSUED 308 AM CDT THU AUG 26 2010/

MAIN FOCUS IN THIS FORECAST PACKAGE WILL CONTINUE TO DEAL WITH
THE COOL CONDITIONS TODAY AND TONIGHT...THEN ATTENTION TURNS TO A
WARM UP THIS WEEKEND INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK.

CURRENTLY...SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE AND A COOLER AIRMASS HAS SETTLED
OVER THE REGION EARLY THIS MORNING. UNDER CLEAR SKIES AND LIGHT
WINDS TEMPERATURES HAVE FALLEN WELL INTO THE 50S ACROSS THE AREA.

SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE WILL REMAIN OVER THE REGION INTO FRIDAY
WITH BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND MAINLY CLEAR SKIES EXPECTED
INTO FRIDAY. HIGHS TODAY WILL ONCE AGAIN ONLY WARM INTO THE LOWER
TO MID 80S WITH OVERNIGHT LOWS TONIGHT AGAIN DROPPING WELL INTO
THE 50S.

AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE WILL BEGIN TO PUSH INTO THE REGION LATE
FRIDAY INTO THE WEEKEND. THIS WILL RESULT IN WARMER TEMPERATURES
RETURNING TO THE AREA THIS WEEKEND INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK...AS HIGHS
WARM TO AROUND THE 90 DEGREE MARK EACH AFTERNOON. LOW LEVEL
HUMIDITY WILL BE SLOW TO RETURN TO THE REGION...SO HEAT INDEX
VALUES SHOULD STAY IN CHECK.

THERE ARE NO REAL GOOD PRECIPITATION CHANCES FOR THE REST OF THE
WEEK INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK AS A DRY AIRMASS REMAINS IN PLACE ACROSS
THE AREA. MEDIUM RANGE MODELS DO INDICATE THAT AN UPPER LEVEL
TROUGH WILL PUSH ACROSS THE NORTHERN PLAINS TOWARDS THE MIDDLE TO
END OF NEXT WEEK...WHICH MAY RESULT IN THE NEXT CHANCE FOR
RAINFALL FOR THE AREA. THERE STILL REMAINS SOME UNCERTAINTY WITH
REGARDS TO THIS SYSTEM.
