DISCUSSION...
/ISSUED 255 AM CDT WED AUG 25 2010/

MAIN FOCUS IN THIS FORECAST PACKAGE WILL DEAL WITH COOLER WEATHER
THROUGH THE END OF THE WORKWEEK...THEN WITH A WARM UP FOR THIS
WEEKEND INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK.

CURRENTLY...A SURFACE COLD FRONT THAT PASSED THROUGH THE AREA ON
TUESDAY HAD PUSHED SOUTHEAST OF THE AREA. THE ASSOCIATED UPPER
LEVEL SHORTWAVE TROUGH CONTINUES TO PUSH THROUGH THE REGION. NO
RAINFALL IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE SHORTWAVE...HOWEVER MOSTLY CLOUDY
SKIES ARE OCCURRING ACROSS THE AREA EARLY THIS MORNING. THE
INCREASED CLOUD COVER HAS KEEP EARLY MORNING TEMPERATURES IN THE
MIDDLE 60S TO THE LOWER 70S. THE SHORTWAVE TROUGH AND ASSOCIATED
CLOUD COVER WILL CONTINUE TO PUSH TO THE SOUTHEAST THIS
MORNING...WITH SKIES CLEARING FROM THE NORTHWEST TO SOUTHEAST
THROUGH THE MID MORNING HOURS.

SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE AND A COOLER AIR MASS WILL SPREAD INTO THE
AREA TODAY AND WILL REMAIN OVER THE AREA INTO EARLY FRIDAY.
MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES CAN BE EXPECTED FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE WEEK AFTER
THE CLOUD COVER CLEARS THIS MORNING. HIGHS TODAY AND THURSDAY
WILL GENERALLY ONLY WARM INTO THE LOWER TO MIDDLE 80S...WITH UPPER
70S POSSIBLE ACROSS PORTIONS OF CENTRAL MISSOURI. THIS COOL AND
VERY DRY AIR MASS WILL ALLOW OVERNIGHT LOWS TO DROP INTO THE 50S
TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT...WITH THE COOLEST READINGS EXPECTED
TONIGHT AND THURSDAY NIGHT.

UPPER LEVEL RIDGING WILL THEN BEGIN TO BUILD INTO THE REGION LATE
FRIDAY INTO THE WEEKEND. AS A RESULT HIGHS WILL WARM TO AROUND THE
90 DEGREE MARK EACH AFTERNOON THIS WEEKEND INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK.
MID LEVEL MOISTURE MAY START TO INCREASE FROM THE SOUTH SUNDAY
INTO THE START OF NEXT WEEK. WITH THE WARMER TEMPERATURES EXPECTED
AND THE INCREASED MID LEVEL MOISTURE...A FEW PULSE THUNDERSTORMS
MAY BE POSSIBLE EACH AFTERNOON LATE THIS WEEKEND INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK.
THE BETTER POTENTIAL AT THIS TIME APPEARS TO BE SOUTH OF THE AREA...SO
HAVE LEFT THE FORECAST DRY AT THIS TIME.

AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH AND SURFACE COLD FRONT MAY APPROACH THE AREA
DURING THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK...WHICH MAY BRING WIDESPREAD
RAINFALL CHANCES TO THE AREA.

AVIATION...

FOR THE 06Z TAFS...MID LEVEL CLOUD COVER ASSOCIATED WITH PASSING
SHORTWAVE WILL EXIT THE FORECAST AREA FROM NORTHWEST TO SOUTHEAST
OVERNIGHT. CURRENT TRENDS WOULD INDICATED AROUND 07Z AT JLN TO
AROUND 10Z AT BBG. SHOULD HAVE A LOT OF CLEAR SKY AFTER THAT FOR
NEXT FEW DAYS AS VERY DRY HIGH PRESSURE MOVES INTO THE REGION.
COULD SEE SOME WIND GUSTS IN THE 15 TO 20 KT RANGE DURING THE DAY
ON WEDNESDAY WITH SOME MIXING.
