..WINTER STORM TO IMPACT SOUTHEAST KANSAS AND PORTIONS OF
SOUTHWEST MISSOURI SATURDAY MORNING THROUGH SUNDAY...

SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS WILL OCCUR OVER SOUTHEAST KANSAS AND
PORTIONS OF WESTERN MISSOURI. THERE ALSO MAY BE A ZONE OF FREEZING
RAIN THAT DEVELOPS FOR A FEW HOURS LATE SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY
MORNING ACROSS SOUTHWEST MISSOURI.

THIS ACTIVE WEATHER WILL OCCUR IN RESPONSE TO THE APPROACH OF A
VIGOROUS STORM SYSTEM. THIS FEATURE WILL FORCE COLDER AIR INTO THE
REGION...CREATING THIS FORECASTED WINTRY PRECIPITATION.

CONFIDENCE HAS INCREASED THAT FOUR TO SEVEN INCHES OF SNOW AND
SLEET WILL ACCUMULATE OVER AREAS ALONG AND WEST OF A LINE FROM
ANDERSON TO TRUMAN LAKE. FURTHER EAST TOWARD
MONETT...SPRINGFIELD...MOUNT VERNON...BOLIVAR...AND WARSAW...THERE
REMAINS SOME UNCERTAINTY REGARDING THE POSSIBILITIES OF FREEZING
RAIN. THEREFORE THE WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THESE
AREAS.

..WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM SATURDAY TO
7 PM CDT SUNDAY...

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR SNOW AND SLEET...REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM
4 AM SATURDAY TO 7 PM CDT SUNDAY.

* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...RAIN WILL CHANGE TO A MIX OF
RAIN...SLEET...AND SNOW EARLY SATURDAY MORNING ACROSS SOUTHEAST
KANSAS AND FAR SOUTHWEST AND WEST CENTRAL MISSOURI.

PRECIPITATION WILL TRANSITION TO ALL SLEET AND SNOW DURING THE
DAY SATURDAY. THE WINTER PRECIPITATION WILL CONTINUE INTO
SUNDAY.

* SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 4 TO 7
INCHES ARE EXPECTED ACROSS FAR SOUTHWEST MISSOURI BY THE TIME
THE STORM ENDS LATE SUNDAY. THE HEAVIEST SNOW WILL LIKELY FALL
SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY MORNING.

* WINDS AND VISIBILITY...NORTHERLY WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 15 TO 30 MPH
WHICH COULD RESULT IN POOR VISIBILITY.

* IMPACTS...TRAVEL CONDITIONS WILL DETERIORATE SATURDAY PARTICULARLY
ACROSS SOUTHEAST KANSAS...BUT MORE SIGNIFICANT TRAVEL IMPACTS
ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY MORNING. THIS
WINTER STORM WILL IMPACT THE HIGHWAY 71 AND 69 CORRIDORS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW AND SLEET ARE
EXPECTED. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL
VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE. CONSIDER TAKING A WINTER STORM KIT
ALONG WITH YOU. THIS KIT SHOULD INCLUDE SUCH ITEMS AS TIRE
CHAINS...BOOSTER CABLES...A FLASHLIGHT...SHOVEL...BLANKETS...EXTRA
CLOTHING AND ANYTHING ELSE THAT WOULD HELP YOU SURVIVE IN CASE YOU
BECOME STRANDED.
