...SEVERE WEATHER TO IMPACT THE OZARKS SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND SUNDAY
NIGHT...

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF THE MISSOURI
OZARKS AND EXTREME SOUTHEAST KANSAS.

.DAY ONE...TONIGHT.

WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED...

LIMITED LIGHTNING RISK.
LIMITED NON THUNDERSTORM WIND RISK.

DISCUSSION...

SUSTAINED SOUTH TO SOUTHEAST WINDS AROUND 20 MPH WITH GUSTS AROUND
30 MPH CAN BE EXPECTED AT TIMES TONIGHT...MAINLY ACROSS WESTERN
MISSOURI AND EXTREME SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS.

A FEW SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS MAY PUSH INTO THE OUTLOOK AREA
LATE TONIGHT. THE MAIN THREAT FROM ANY STORMS WILL BE OCCASIONAL
LIGHTNING STRIKES...BUT A FEW STORMS COULD ALSO PRODUCE HAIL TO
THE SIZE OF DIMES.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.

NON SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL REMAIN POSSIBLE SUNDAY MORNING
ACROSS THE OUTLOOK AREA WITH OCCASIONAL LIGHTNING STRIKES AND HAIL
TO THE SIZE OF PENNIES THE MAIN POTENTIAL HAZARDS.

INDICATIONS ARE THAT SUPERCELL THUNDERSTORMS WILL THEN DEVELOP
ALONG AN ADVANCING DRY LINE ACROSS EASTERN KANSAS AND OKLAHOMA
DURING THE EARLY TO MIDDLE AFTERNOON HOURS ON SUNDAY. THESE
THUNDERSTORMS WILL THEN TRACK INTO WESTERN MISSOURI DURING THE
LATE AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING HOURS. A MIXED MODE OF SUPERCELL
THUNDERSTORMS AND BROKEN LINE SEGMENTS IS THEN EXPECTED TO MOVE
EAST ACROSS THE REMAINDER OF THE MISSOURI OZARKS FROM LATER SUNDAY
EVENING INTO THE OVERNIGHT HOURS.

ALL MODES OF SEVERE WEATHER WILL BE POSSIBLE FROM THESE STORMS
FROM SUNDAY AFTERNOON INTO SUNDAY NIGHT. HAIL UP TO THE SIZE OF
TENNIS BALLS WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH ANY SUPERCELL THUNDERSTORMS
ALONG AND WEST OF THE HIGHWAY 65 CORRIDOR...WITH HAIL UP TO THE
SIZE OF GOLF BALLS POSSIBLE EAST OF HIGHWAY 65. DAMAGING STRAIGHT
LINE WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE...ESPECIALLY WITH
ANY LINE SEGMENTS.

THERE WILL ALSO BE A THREAT FOR TORNADOES FROM SUPERCELLS...AND
ALSO EMBEDDED WITHIN LINE SEGMENTS WHICH BOW OUT TOWARDS THE EAST
AND NORTHEAST.

IT IS THEN POSSIBLE THAT STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS MAY
REDEVELOP ACROSS THE FAR EASTERN MISSOURI OZARKS LATE MONDAY
MORNING OR EARLY MONDAY AFTERNOON. HOWEVER...THE MAIN SEVERE
WEATHER THREAT ON MONDAY IS EXPECTED TO OCCUR EAST OF THE OUTLOOK
AREA.

DUE TO THE EXPECTATIONS FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ON SUNDAY...A
LIVE BRIEFING WILL BE HELD ON NOAA WEATHER RADIO AROUND 11 AM ON
SUNDAY MORNING.

...SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED ACROSS SOUTHEAST KANSAS AND
THE MISSOURI OZARKS SUNDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT...

A POTENT STORM SYSTEM ACROSS THE HIGH PLAINS REGION WILL AFFECT
SOUTHEAST KANSAS AND THE MISSOURI OZARKS SUNDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT. BY
SUNDAY AFTERNOON...STORMS WILL RAPIDLY DEVELOP ALONG AN ADVANCING DRY LINE
ACROSS EASTERN KANSAS AND WESTERN MISSOURI. THESE WILL CONTINUE
INTO THE OVERNIGHT HOURS SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY MORNING ACROSS
THE MISSOURI OZARKS.

THE POTENTIAL AND CONFIDENCE THAT AN OUTBREAK OF SEVERE STORMS WILL
DEVELOP AND IMPACT THE REGION IS INCREASING...ESPECIALLY FOR
SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND NIGHT. ANY SEVERE STORMS WILL HAVE THE
CAPABILITY OF PRODUCING LARGE HAIL IN EXCESS OF TWO INCHES IN
DIAMETER. THERE IS A HIGH AMOUNT OF WIND ENERGY PRESENT IN ALL
LAYERS OF THE ATMOSPHERE...SO DAMAGING WIND GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 70
MPH WILL BE A THREAT WITH ANY SEVERE STORMS AS WELL.

ALSO...WINDS WILL BE TURNING AND INCREASING WITH HEIGHT...WHICH
WILL SUPPORT A TORNADO THREAT. THE BETTER DYNAMICS FOR TORNADOES
WILL BE ALONG THE I-49 CORRIDOR OF WESTERN MISSOURI AND WESTWARD
INTO SOUTHEAST KANSAS AS WELL AS ALONG AND SOUTH OF HIGHWAY 60
ACROSS SOUTHERN MISSOURI. AN ISOLATED STRONG TORNADO OR TWO MAY BE
POSSIBLE IN THOSE AREAS DEPENDING ON THE AMOUNT OF INSTABILITY AND
LOW LEVEL ATMOSPHERIC ENERGY LATE SUNDAY AFTERNOON.

NOW IS THE TIME TO REVIEW YOUR SEVERE WEATHER SAFETY RULES.
CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS AND OUTLOOKS FROM YOUR
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY...MAKE SURE
YOU HAVE A PLAN AND ARE PREPARED WHEN A WATCH OR WARNING IS ISSUED
FOR YOUR AREA.
