...HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS EXPECTED TO END THE WEEK...

TEMPERATURES WILL CLIMB INTO THE MIDDLE 90S THIS AFTERNOON AND
AGAIN ON SATURDAY WITH HEAT INDEX VALUES BETWEEN 99 AND 104.
LITTLE RELIEF IS EXPECTED DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS AS
TEMPERATURES ONLY FALL INTO THE LOWER 70S ACROSS THE OZARKS AND
SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS.

THESE HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS WILL LEAD TO A HEIGHTENED RISK OF
HEAT RELATED STRESS AND ILLNESS...ESPECIALLY FOR THE YOUNG AND
ELDERLY...THOSE WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING...AND THOSE PARTICIPATING
IN SPORTS AND STRENUOUS OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES.

A COLD FRONT IS EXPECTED TO MOVE THROUGH THE REGION ON SUNDAY AND
PROVIDE SOME RELIEF IN TEMPERATURES ALONG WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR
SHOWERS AND STORMS.

TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OUTSIDE OR NEED TO SPEND TIME
OUTSIDE LATE THIS WEEK. BE SURE TO DRINK PLENTY OF WATER...TAKE
FREQUENT BREAKS...WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING
WHEN POSSIBLE. ALSO PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION TO PETS AND ANIMALS
WHICH MAY ALSO BE SUSCEPTIBLE TO HEAT RELATED ILLNESS. MAKE SURE
NOT TO LEAVE CHILDREN OR PETS UNATTENDED OR ALONE IN A
VEHICLE...BEAT THE HEAT AND CHECK THE BACKSEAT.
